CHALLAH

I made Challah for the first time on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.  While we couldn’t spend the high holidays with Jason’s family this year, making the challah was a special experience because my mother-in-law and I prepared the same recipe and then braided the bread together over FaceTime. We picked our recipe from Once Upon a Chef by Jenn Segal which was so easy and incredibly flavorful!

I’m not usually the bread baker in the house because I don’t have the patience, but if you want to try something different, this is a great way to get your hands dirty and have a good time.

Making bread is a science and form of art that takes a lot of practice. For my first time, I definitely wasn’t perfect, but the recipe and Jenn’s step by step photos really helped. I was afraid it would come apart because you have to pinch and tuck the ends, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tightly I was able to braid the Challah
