YAS' GUIDE TO MARRAKECH
Marrakech is a magical place filled with beautiful architecture, gorgeous gardens, culture and museums. The colorful souks, boutique hotels and top notch hospitality is truly unforgettable. You can easily spend days exploring the exquisitely tiled courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic Medina, walking through the intimate gardens or taking in the beauty of the city’s mosques before ending the evening at a one-of-a-kind riad/hotel.
WHERE TO STAY:
FOUR SEASONS RESORT MARRAKECH - located in the heart of the city. We stayed here and absolutely loved it for so many reasons. Top notch service, cleanliness, gorgeous rooms and away from the hustle bustle of the Medina.
RIAD 72 located in the center of the Medina. It is a hip little hideaway that is steps from the center of the action.
WHERE TO EAT:
LA TABLE DU RIAD RESTAURANT is a highly regarded restaurant located inside Riad 72. Excellent and authentic moroccan meal that is finger licking good. We had Jason’s birthday dinner here and it was the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion in the courtyard under the stars.
CHEZ LAMINE We bumped into this spot on our adventure inside the Medina. We saw 2 guys cooking lamb underground and it smelled insatiable. They invited us and gave us a table with a leg of lamb, bread and their special spices. The lamb was incredibly tender and we devoured the entire plate. I would put this on top of your list. It’s definitely an experience.
NOMAD is a chic and swanky restaurant with traditional moroccan cuisine but with a western twist. Their rooftop is a great spot for a drink.
WHAT TO DO:
LA MAMOUNIA HOTEL is truly the most luxurious hotel in Marrakech. Its grounds are stunning. I recommend going here for a drink or just to walk around and take in the beauty.
MEDINA is the busy city center where you can get lost for hours. The hustle of the shop owners trying to get your business to the smells of all the spices and nuts and gorgeous home decor with true Moroccan designs - it’s truly an experience. You can bargain to get the best deals but don’t forget to bring cash! Also, be careful of pick pocketer’s here.
YSL MUSEUM is not only a museum, but a collection of some of YSL’s greatest collections. Definitely worth visiting this and Jardine Majorelle.
JARDINE MAJORELLE is a stunning garden not far from the Medina. Located next to the YSL Museum, you can stroll through two and half acres of stunning pools, streams and fountains surrounded by exotic trees and plants. It’s a nice little oasis outside the hustle of the Medina.
SPA day at the Four Seasons Restort is a must after a long day of exploring the Medina.
Have a wonderful time, if you decide to visit. Feel free to drop me a line if you’ve visited any of our recommended sites.
