Ingredients:

For the Wontons
  • 1/2 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1/2 lb pork
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup scallions
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  2. Finely chop the vegetables – bell peppers and scallions. Place the cast iron over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Pour the bell peppers, scallions, garlic and ginger and sauté for 1-2 mins. Mix in ground pork along with soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and allow the beef to cook through then add more salt to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Meanwhile, layout wonton wrappers and add a tsp of filling in the center of each wrapper. Dip finger in water and run it along with edges of the wrapper and fold the wrapper over and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet. Once the oil is hot add the wontons (be careful the oil will splatter). Add ¼ of water then close the skillet lid for 2-3 mins and repeat in the remaining batches. Enjoy hot!
